About The Company

Founded in 1915 in Indianapolis, IN, UHL has had a long history of supplying the antique automotive and auto restoration industries. The name of the company, Uniform Hood Lace, is derived from the product it makes, which is a cotton material that is treated with asphalt and other chemicals. This material, "hood lacing", is used on antique cars to prevent mildew and placed between two pieces of metal to prevent rubbing. Today hood lacing is also used on fire trucks, busses and other commercial vehicles.
